Vintage 1964 LAFAYETTE LA-234 Tube Integrated Stereo 4x7189 Amplifier Amp/PreAmp

Vintage 1964 LAFAYETTE LA-234 Tube Integrated Stereo Amplifier Amp/PreAmp 9 tubes. (4 x 7189 Power Tubes, 2x 12AX7, 2x 6AN8) -For Restoration Only, good candidate. CONDITION: UNTESTED -NEVER PLUGED-IN (Barn/Garage find Project), Vintage used original condition. This unit is NOT Plug and Play and will need restoration. (Please read the entire Description below and SEE ALL PICS). We currently have way to many projects on the bench and shelfs in front of this unit so we are making this unit. Unit are 55+ years old and the caps and resistors must be out of spec by now. We will be also listing another.

In order to restore this unit you will need to add a FULL complement of 9 working Vacuum tubes then add. A new 3-prong AC safety chord, Check all the caps/resistors for out of tolerance. Values and replace them, Check all wiring connections, Then bring the unit up on a Variac slowly to reform any.

Old caps, resistors & the Power Supply/Output Transformer and old wiring still in the unit. Then final QA/QC was done at Lafayette in NY. Type: AC operated 9 tube Stereo Audio'Integrated' Amplifier. Stereo Left & Right channel output Supports both 8 Ohm, 16 Ohm speakers from back panel switch.

4 x 7189 output tubes (14-20 Watts output per channel), 2 tube in push pull per channel. Note: The original tubes in this unit were 7189's. With 6BQ5/EL84's in PP is 12WPC clean, 7189's in PP is 14WPC clean low THD, if 7189A are used then 20WPC clean low THD output.

No rectifier tube so must be a silicone (solid-state diode). 5x Front Panel Control Pots/ Knobs left to right: Selector(Phono, Tuner, Aux) Control,,,, Left/Right Stereo Control... Volume ControlInner Left Channel/Outer Right Channel.... Treble Control(Inner Left/Outer Right Channel)... Treble Control(Inner Left/Outer Right Channel). 4x Front Panel Rocker switches below knobs are Rumble Filter Off/On, Phase Off/On, Speaker/Headphones switch, Power (Off/On).

1x Front panel Headphone Input (female) jack. 1x Front panel Red Pilot off/on Lamp. Back panel Inputs : 2-Phono(MM/MC)/Aux/Tape Rec/Tuner inputs. Sellers partial refurbish (partial Cosmetic restoration only). All we have done is clean the dust off the unit (outside and inside), unit was a barn find and has been sitting for some years.

Then cleaned this unit with a mild organic disinfectant. Then used Flitz metal cleaner to clean up the units faceplate and chassis. The top chassis has significant pitting as does parts of the metal cover.

The low chamber with all the Caps and Resistors looks very clean (SEE DETAILS IN PICS). We have sprayed all the control pots with Deoxit D5 and have sprayed all the tube sockets. And electrical contacts with CRC QD Quick dry Electrical contact cleaner. \Net Dimensions are 14" x 10 1/2" x 5.
