Although the receiver is made to be used with 8 ohm speakers, the amplifier sees a 4 ohm load when two sets of 8 ohm speakers are connected and both speaker outputs are on. The high-current capabilities of the amplifier allow it to simultaneously drive two sets of 8 ohm speakers without difficulty.

VMAx Processing Mode: VMAx virtual surround processing produces an enveloping sound field using only two speakers. Preamp Out/Main Input Jacks: There are preamp output and main input jacks connected to each other by "U" shaped jumpers. The jumpers can be removed for easy connection of an optional outboard equalizer. Subwoofer Preamp Output Jacks: There are two full range subwoofer preamp output jacks on the rear panel of the receiver. These jacks are provided for connection to a powered subwoofer with line-level inputs.

Remote In/Out Jacks: There is one mini-jack remote sensor input and one mini-jack remote output on the rear panel of this unit. If the receiver is placed behind a solid or smoked glass door, the obstruction may prevent the front panel IR sensor from receiving commands from the remote. If the unit is positioned so the front panel IR sensor cannot receive commands from the remote, an optional IR sensor may be connected to the "Remote IR In" jack and positioned to accept commands from the remote. The "Remote IR Out" jack can be connected to the remote input jack of compatible equipment to relay commands to that equipment.

Learning Remote: The included remote is preprogrammed to control Harman/Kardon cassette decks, CD recorders and CD players/changers. Also, this remote can learn the infrared commands from remotes of other devices. Display Dimmer: The display brightness may be set to full intensity, half intensity or off. The back panel of the receiver contains the following inputs and outputs.
